Motherhood

Ambers blog reminded me of Proverbs 31.

Proverbs 31:27-28
"She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed"

Being a parent isn't easy. From the constant cleaning, to the endless worry. Today I found out that Eleanor got a red tag in school yesterday. She hit another girl. Just this week I'd gone and helped in Eleanor's class and come to realize that Kindergarteners are not as innocent and sweet as I had pictured them. I mean, we all know Eleanor is a perfect little angel. But it turns out that 5 is not too young for some girls to become manipulative little bullies. There is this little girl, not only in Eleanor's class, but also in Eleanor's group to do activity centers, that has quite a little attitude. Eleanor and I had many conversations this week about avoiding girls like that. We also talked about how just because someone else does something doesn't make it okay. We talked specifically about hitting. So when I found out she hit, I was quite angry. Maybe if she'd punched this particular little girl I'd get over it.....

Luckily when I got to work after finding this out I had a chance to talk to another Mom about it. She has a daughter in 2nd grade. Turns out these things can continue for years. I asked her what she'd done about these issues. She said up until recently she'd let the teachers handle it. She said the parents are often worse than the kids as far as causing trouble or keeping issues from being resolved. Isn't that sad? It was frustrating to hear this, but also good to know that I'm not the only one out there worrying about these things. It's good to have a friend to talk to about it, someone with a little experience.

I'll be praying for you Amber, and all my other Mom friends out there. I know what it's like to be in your shoes. I applaud you for your hard work, dedication and love for your kids. Don't give up, God will give you the strength to get through each day if you only ask Him (that goes for me too!)

I'll share a few stories with you. It starts in Kindergarten and doesn't get better. Not to discourage you or anything.

Awww... Good post, if not a little discouraging. Thanks for the prayers. We need them. Love you!
