First Day

It's funny how emotional a person gets over the first day their kid goes to Kindergarten. Above all else I believe this is why they had an orientation day today. Eleanor's teacher's name is Mrs. Benson. She has been teaching at Enders for 16 years. I can tell already that Eleanor and I are going to love her. One of the parents today asked if there was anything she needed for the classroom that we could give. Mrs. Benson's response was something like "I really don't ask for anything. I am just so grateful for the gift of being able to teach your children". She started the day off with a little game. She sang a little song that asked the children their names....but she already knew their names, which is amazing, because she only met them briefly in May or June. Then she brought out a raccoon puppet and read the children a story about a raccoon who was nervous about the first day of school. Then she read them a question she'd written out on a board. It read "Dear Smarties....how many days are there until school starts?" Then, when the children all answered it correctly she said, "Good job! I'm so proud of you. Now everyone give their brain a kiss." Some kid yelled out, "I can't reach it!". Then she showed them how.....kiss your hand and pat your head. This all sounds so ridiculous on paper but it was way cute. So, Eleanor did fine. At least she wasn't the kid who screamed and had to be dragged into the building. She did get a little emotional afterward. But overall, it went well, we made it through the first day. It will be hard to drop her off tomorrow, but I know she is in good hands. For those of you who had school, or have a Kindergartener starting too, how did your first day of school go?

Have a great day! Enjoy the cool breeze God sent us.

That is sooo amazing. I know I cried with my mom when we sent lauren off to her first day....it seems like just yesterday i was sitting with my mom in the hosptial room watching the little mermaid and holding her in my arms...lol yup...the little mermaid. Her teacher, Mrs. Mathews, was super nice, Lauren started to get a little teary eyes but that stopped right away once she saw how beautiful and coloful Mrs. Mathews had made the classroom. Lauren is in for a great school year and when we went to pick her she was running and playing with all the girls already....because as you may already know...boys have coodies. oh yeah...I HAVE AN INTERVIEW FRIDAY!!!! and im going to bible study thursday for sure!!!

You know I've always loved little miss Eleanor. Her and Lauren are two of the sweetest girls I've ever taught in Children's Church. It's great she's going to school now. I know she'll be very bright when she grows up!

The first day of school is always terrible, for teacher and students alike. Could you imagine being the teacher with all those parents scrutinizing your every move? I'm glad you like her teacher though. It makes all the difference in the world. Is she adjusting well? I miss my daughter so much every day.
