So here's what's up...
For weeks now I have anticipated moving out. I thought I would be moving the first week of June, so I began to buy things, and pack things, and make a huge mess of my Mother's house. Bookcases, pots, pans, bake ware....
So I started buying bake ware. Funny thing about bake ware is that I've always deeply loved it, but never knew how readily available it is thrift stores. So I bought some, then some more, more after that. Then I started looking on ebay.
Upon looking on ebay I realized I could probably sell things I am buying cheap and make money off it. So I did a little of that while still shopping for bake ware. It got to where I was finding bake ware, but not necessarily what I wanted for myself so I gandered at some antique stores.
It then occurred to me that I could sell antiques in a store. I began to talk to the owners of stores, I bought some books about collecting and the value of the items I'm into, and it turn out all I need is a sellers permit, an antiques business license and a regular business license. The rent is really cheap to get space in a store I've shopped in for years.
So yeah, I'm a business woman now. I've always had it in me, it's genetic. Many of my Great Aunts before me carried this gene and my Father always nurtured my dreams of owning my own place. I just never thought that after years of going to college to earn a degree I'd be selling antiques.
Yes, I'm still pursuing that, too. But that is like a sideshow to me right now. I still have a few months before the internship starts to see how this all works out. I am really enjoying the shopping, it's super cheap, and what I don't sell I would most certainly love to keep, use, or give as gifts.
It all began with this bowl from my grandma's house. Ask my mom...I carried it home on my lap on a plane so it wouldn't get broken. Captain Fantastic just bought me the 3 bowls that go with it to make it a complete set :)
I asked my sister what she would pay anything for, should she ever come across it. Of all things, this sprinkler we used to have when we were kids. It's a clown who's hat shoots up in the air. It was pretty amazing....and the people who sell these on ebay seem to be aware.
Larry, Jennifer and I have always wanted a thrifty ice cream scoop as well. $100...yeah, well, we aren't that crazy. Guess I could get it for $60 now...hmmmmm
Guess you could say it's the nostalgia. Going to grandma's, playing together. And then there's my addiction...Coca Cola.
So I'm moving next weekend, and July 1st is my first day selling in the store...Life is good.

How exciting. My husband and I love to go into antique stores.
It was nice talking to at Midcities a few weeks ago. I hope things are going well. My hubby and I love going into antique stores. Keep me posted on your new adventure. Let me know if you will be having anymore game nights at church.
Wow! You're quite the industrious one. I'd love to visit your store. And, while I love you and Jennifer, the clown sprinkler is kinda creepy. But you're right, it's the nostalgia that makes things so special. My siblings and I enjoyed running through our utilitarian sprinklers even though we would tear up our feet on the burrs growing in our mostly weedy lawn.
